After two well - received EPs ('Some Other Time' and 'When You're Gone' in 2012), Stuart Howard (Lapalux) combines everything on 'Nostalchic'. This is a top - notch album of new - school beats on Flylo's Brainfeeder label. 'Next level' doesn't even do it justice. Lapalux expertly links ambient and glitch music, with deep textures and atmospheres, supported by carefully programmed beats and vocal samples, creating something truly emotional. It's rare for all these elements to blend so well, but Howard does it with amazing skill. Tracks like 'Iamsys', 'Flower', and 'Straight Over My Head' are great samples, but the whole album deserves multiple listens.
