Led by the iconic George Clinton, Funkadelic was a major force in the P - Funk empire. Their blend of Rock, Psychedelia, and Soul took them into the pop mainstream and won an international fan base, making them a key funk group. 'Uncle Jam Wants You', released in 1979, was their 11th studio LP. It was more militant than 'One Nation Under A Groove', aiming to 'rescue dance music from the blahs'. The album features a 15 - minute version of '(Not Just) Knee Deep', whose edited version hit No.1 on the US R&B chart. It influenced the hip - hop scene, especially Uncle Jam's Army. This was the first Funkadelic album since 1972 without a cover by Pedro Bell. The sleeve shows George Clinton in a Huey Newton Black Panthers pose, referencing the 'Uncle Sam Wants You!' poster. It's a 180g black vinyl pressing in a gatefold jacket, a European import from Charly in 2017.
