Sean Canty and Miles Whittaker, known as Demdike Stare, are back with their first full - length album since 2010 (excluding 2012's 'Elemental' compilation). A lot has changed. Their 'Testpressing' series started in 2013, moving from their dark and sensual black - and - white art to standard test - pressing jackets. They've been mixing sub - bass and jungle breaks into their signature drone and spooky atmospherics on the dancefloor. Whittaker also contributed to jungle and 'ardkore elements in side projects like HATE and Millie & Andrea with Andy Stott. 'Wonderland' is Demdike's most accessible work yet. You can tell from the portraits on the sleeve and the driving broken techno of 'Curzon' on the A - side. Whittaker and Canty love digging for music, and their passion for early - 2000s dancehall rhythms shines through in tracks like 'Animal Style' and 'FullEdge (eMpTy - 40 Mix)'. On 'Airborne Latency', they play with breaks over a chilling atmosphere, and 'Sourcer' sounds like a grime track by Source Direct.
