Originally released by UK's True Thoughts and later by Ninja Tune, Animal Magic stands out in the early 2000s downtempo music scene. Bonobo's sample - based music has dynamic shifts, adding depth rarely found in similar records. It starts with the mellow 'Sleepy Seven', then hits you with 'Dinosaurs' and 'Kota'. 'Kota' speeds things up, and from there, nearly every track is unforgettable, like the mournful sax in 'The Plug' and the fast - paced beats of 'Sugar Rhyme'.
