René Pawlowitz, a Berlin - based producer, has a real knack for crafting club tracks. He has an amazing sense for heavy drums and bass. Over the years, he's released some of Berlin's biggest club records under various names like WK7, Evil Fred, and his current alias, Head High. These records are practical, to - the - point, and clearly made by someone who knows their craft. Megatrap keeps up Pawlowitz's tradition of making huge rave tunes for the dancefloor. At first listen, you might miss the attention to detail. He seems to instinctively know what creates energy in the club. The drum programming is dynamic, with bass drums tuned for each track, varying from distorted and brutal to round and hefty. The breaks are used skillfully, referencing 90s hardcore jungle while taking the music in a new direction. 'Megatrap (Real Mix)' takes it to the extreme with just a single kick drum and expertly chopped breaks and sub - bass. The opener, 'Hex Factor', combines classic UK rave with Pawlowitz's powerful kick drums. Megatrap is simple yet effective club music that's also great outside the club. It's highly recommended.
