Lower Dens, a Baltimore band led by songwriter Jana Hunter, has an interesting origin story. It started after Hunter's solo tour when she realized the issue was the solitude of solo music. By 2012's Nootropics, they started integrating synths, moving closer to Beach House's sound. 2015's Escape From Evil on Ribbon Music was well - received with an 80s vibe.
