In January 2024, Chicago's bitter cold united the city. Horsegirl spent two frigid weeks recording 'Phonetics On and On' with the heat off in The Loft to avoid sound issues. Bundled in sweaters, they worked closely with producer Cate Le Bon. Moving away from the heavy saturation of previous work, Le Bon guided them to new, bright sonic territories. After four years together, Horsegirl explores the trio's limits, using space creatively while keeping a pop core. The record features violins, synths, and gamelan tiles. It's a crystal - clear colored vinyl, an indie exclusive limited edition from Matador in 2025.
