In 2005, when Leon Michels and El Michels Affair released Sounding Out The City, no one could predict what was next for Michels' 'cinematic soul' sound. After four EMA studio albums and numerous tribute and remix projects, Michels ventures into hip - hop, creating a musical backdrop for Black Thought of The Roots. Michels' soul - tinged production pairs perfectly with Black Thought's personal and transparent verses. Instead of sending live - recorded tracks, Michels used a sampler, sampling his own music and records from his collection. He either created new soul songs in the studio, sampled himself, and then chopped or looped the sounds, or took a traditional hip - hop approach by starting with samples of others' music and adding live instruments. Most importantly, he reinterprets his own works into something fresh. The result is loop - based tracks with an organic feel, perfect for Black Thought to shine. It comes in a black vinyl pressing from Big Crown Records in 2023.

To enjoy this vinyl LP, simply place it on your record player, gently drop the needle onto the groove, and let the music play. Make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. When handling the vinyl, hold it by the edges to avoid getting fingerprints on the playing surface. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place, and keep it in its sleeve when not in use to prevent scratches. If the vinyl gets dirty, you can use a record cleaning brush to gently remove dust. This album is a great addition to any hip - hop or soul music collection, so sit back, relax, and enjoy the unique sounds of El Michels Affair and Black Thought.
