DJ Harrison: HazyMoods Vinyl LP

After some self - released beat tapes, Devonne Harris, known as DJ Harrison, joins the great Stones Throw Records. Harrison mastered his skills by replaying funk and jazz samples on piano, drums, and bass before using computers and samplers. This unique creative approach runs through HazyMoods. With full control, Harrison creates tracks deeply rooted in soul and jazz. They're simple yet powerful, bringing to mind the off - kilter boogie of Dam - Funk, the head - nodding appeal of Flying Lotus, the playfulness of SamiYam, and J Dilla's style. Tracks like “CandleLit” with its suave jazz - funk and “SpaceModulator” which combines Pharrell and AFX vibes are great examples. Recorded on tape at Jellowstone in Richmond, VA, a shared living, working, and recording space. Other top tracks include “ProcessFresh,” “Drunk808,” and “BonusLevel.” Music label: Stones Throw 2017.
