Uncut Gems is a hit, and we're all in love! This century's super - tense film gets an amazing electronic score from Warp artist Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never. For his second collab with Josh and Benny Safdie, he uses his real name. Following the style of Good Time, it channels 70s prog - synth vibes of Tomita, Wendy Carlos, and Tangerine Dream. It also focuses on the tender side of human emotions. With Good Time under his belt, he even quotes Vangelis comfortably. While the Good Time score fit its film well, Uncut Gems is way more listenable and musically engaging. It has a rich and unified sound with arps, pads, sax, and choral harmonies, setting the mood for jeweler Howard Ratner's seedy mid - town world. There are some tasteful film dialogues to keep you awake. This soundtrack comes on black double vinyl, in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves. It also includes a digital download. Music label: Warp Records 2019. Highly recommended!
