The Maida Vale Sessions brings together four live performances of Broadcast from the famous West London studios between 1996 and 2003. It shows the band's evolution from their early days to near - international fame as their sound constantly changed. In their 1996 session for John Peel, even in their early stage, Broadcast seemed fully developed, performing three early singles and a nearly complete draft of ‘City In Progress' four years before its official release. In 1997, they started to play with the public's view of them. Trish Keenan, known for her cool delivery, brought a sweeter, more confident charm to the live ‘Come On Let's Go'. The 2000 and 2003 sessions show their psychedelic pop transforming into exciting, noisy decay. Tracks like ‘Pendulum' and ‘Colour Me In' are more powerful here than on HaHa Sound, and their cover of Nico's ‘Sixty Forty' ends the collection on a shoegazing note, hinting at future experiments. This compilation is not only a showcase of their ever - changing sound but also a great introduction to Broadcast's live performance. It features 4 BBC studio sessions from 1996 - 2003, comes as a black double vinyl pressing, is available on vinyl for the first time, includes a digital download, and is from Warp Records in 2022.
