Born in Detroit in 1946, Bettye LaVette released her first record at just 16 in 1962. She's toured with music legends like Clyde McPhatter, Ben E. King, and Otis Redding, scoring hits such as 'Let Me Down Easy' in 1965 and 'He Made A Woman Out Of Me' in 1969. Often compared to Aretha Franklin and Otis Redding, her soulful style blends blues, rock & roll, funk, gospel, and country. Since 2005's 'I've Got My Own Hell to Raise', she's gained wider acclaim. 'The 1972 Muscle Shoals Sessions' features tracks recorded after she signed with Atlantic/Atco. Originally titled 'Child of the seventies', it's backed by the Muscle Shoals Sound house band. Most tracks are on vinyl for the first time, 46 years after recording. This limited - edition album is individually numbered and comes in a single - pocket, tip - on Stoughton sleeve with new art and liner notes. It also includes bonus singles 'Heart of Gold' and 'You'll Wake Up Wiser'. Features 180g vinyl, a UV - laminated Stoughton tip - on jacket, and is from the Run Out Groove label (2018).
