Description

Imagine NPR Music Tiny Desk but with a powerful 16 - piece big band. Abstract Orchestra, led by saxophonist Rob Mitchell, reinterprets tracks from MF DOOM + Madlib's Madvillany and Madvillainy 2. Inspired by The Roots with Jay - Z and Miguel - Atwood Ferguson's 40 - piece orchestral arrangements of J - Dilla, the group debuted in 2017 with Dilla, which sets the style for this record. It deconstructs and re - imagines songs like 'ALL CAPS', 'Accordion', 'Raid', and 'Fancy Clown'. Madvillain projects have strong jazz influences, and Abstract Orchestra's versions highlight the fascinating link between jazz and hip - hop. This is a black vinyl pressing, originally released in 2018, and is under the ATA Records 2025 label. Reviewed by singing in japanese 08/19.

Using this vinyl LP is easy. Just place it on a record player, gently drop the needle on the start of the groove, and enjoy the music. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid leaving fingerprints or dirt on the record, which could affect the sound quality. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. If it gets dirty, you can use a soft, anti - static record brush to clean the grooves gently. And always remember to handle the record by its edges to prevent scratches.
