Seventeen years ago, when I started making beats, my roommate brought me a box of old, beaten - up records he found in an alley. Most of them were in bad condition, discarded near a record store that probably wouldn't take them. Among some of my all - time favorite records like Kool & The Gang's Love & Understanding, George Duke's Master Of The Game, and Tony! Toni! Toné!'s “Whatever You Want” 12 - inch, was this John and Alice Coltrane vinyl. I was only slightly familiar with John Coltrane then, and when I tried this record, I was shocked. I had so many questions like what was all that atonal screeching and was this the guy hailed as the greatest jazz musician? Years passed, and after getting into Ornette, Dolphy, and Mingus, this record now sounds amazing. It's a direct spiritual connection from John, Alice, Jimmy, Rashied, and Pharoah to the heavens. John plays at his spiritual best, and Alice creates entire galaxies with her fingers. If you're new, start with “The Sun” and “Lord Help Me To Be”. If you're brave, go straight for “Manifestation”. This is a 2017 gatefold black vinyl edition from Superior Viaduct. Highly recommended.

To use this vinyl LP, first make sure your turntable is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the vinyl on the turntable, center it, and drop the needle carefully on the starting groove. Listen at a comfortable volume. When you're done, lift the needle gently and return it to its rest. Store the vinyl in its gatefold sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If the vinyl gets dirty, use a soft, anti - static brush to clean it in a circular motion. Avoid touching the playing surface with your fingers as the oils can damage it.
