This is the original score for Panos Cosmatos' amazing occult thriller Mandy. Tragically, it's Johann Johannsson's last work before his passing this year. The score takes inspiration from doom metal, drone, ambient music, and John Carpenter's horror synthscapes. It perfectly captures the film's wide range of emotions, from tender moments in tracks like 'Sand' and 'Dive Bomb Blues' to revenge - filled tunes like 'Memories' and 'Seeker of the Serpent's Eye', and the doom of 'Black Skulls' and sheer terror of 'Temple'. After Johannsson's passing, sound designers Pepijn Caudron and Yair Elazar Glotman assembled the final product. Johannsson also brought in Stephen O'Malley of Sunn O))) for some really scary guitar work, adding a new level to his compositions. It's very different from his Oscar - winning score for The Theory Of Everything and the unsettling drone of Arrival and Sicario, but it's equally stunning. This limited - edition vinyl comes in a deluxe gatefold jacket with a UV spot gloss finish, a printed insert, and a horizontal obi strip with the album tracklist. It's a translucent red vinyl pressed in Germany by Optimal under the Invada label in 2018. Highly recommended!
