As Chrome Canyon, Morgan Z skillfully walks the line between Giorgio Moroder - style soundtrack magic and bold retro futurism. After his electro band Apes & Androids broke up, this New - York - based artist became a big fan of analog synths. In his Brooklyn studio, he drew inspiration from Vangelis and Wendy Carlos. He's remixed big names like Phoenix, Passion Pit, and Foster the People, and created cool disco edits of George Benson and Yellow Magic Orchestra. 'Elemental Themes' is full of analog synths, live drums, bass, guitar, and Theremin, processed through hand - built compressors, creating a lively musical experience. Chrome Canyon's sound is similar to early Air and Johnny Jewel's Symmetry project, but he truly embraces the work of 80s synth legends.
