This is a double vinyl LP pressing. In the early 1970s, critics hailed Gil Scott - Heron as the most important Black voice after Martin Luther King Jr., comparing him to a black Bob Dylan. The New York Times in 1975 marveled at this angry man from the Bronx, describing his poetry as powerful, humorous, and full of street - talk, often justifiably angry and accurate. Decades later, he was celebrated as the Godfather of Rap. Born in Chicago, the musician, poet, and human - rights activist lived in the Bronx for years. He returned to his black roots and passed away on May 27, 2011, in Harlem. One of his legacies is a fantastic 1983 concert at the Schauburg Theater in Bremen, Germany, recorded by Radio Bremen technicians. This release features a previously unreleased 1983 live recording, a 14 - minute rendition of 'The Bottle' and other fan favorites. It comes as a green colored double vinyl pressing, in a limited edition, and is from the music label MIG 2023.
