Capacity, the second album by Big Thief, was recorded in snow - bound upstate New York with frequent collaborator Andrew Sarlo. The tracks were played for the first time and recorded on the same day, giving them a raw and immediate feel. Led by lead guitarist and vocalist Adrianne Lenker, the band shows amazing sonic chemistry with Buck Meek (guitar), Max Oleartchik (bass), and James Krivchenia (drums). As Lenker says, the album explores self - acceptance. Tracks like “Pretty Things” with its acoustic guitar and Lenker's drawl, “Shark Smile” starting with drum crashes, and “Mythological Beauty” with jaunty drumrolls are real gems.
