Originally released in 2000, Lushlife is Bowery Electric's 3rd studio album. This NYC group, formed in 1993 by Lawrence Chandler and Martha Schwendener, combines shoegaze and post - rock elements in a trip - hop style. On Lushlife, they create smoky and blue compositions similar to Portishead. Crisp drum beats, blurry samples, and late - night gloom are throughout, with Schwendener's somber vocals enhancing the overall mood.
