Gaussian Curve: Clouds (Gigi Masin) Vinyl LP

Some of us fell in love with Gigi Masin after hearing his Talk To The Sea compilation. Music From Memory, the label behind that release, has once again collaborated with Masin for their fourth title. This time, the music is a result of a collaboration between Masin, Land Of Light's Jonny Nash, and Marco Sterk (aka Young Marco). They met in 2013 and recorded the music on Clouds in a weekend at Sterk's studio in Amsterdam's derelict downtown. Gigi plays Rhodes and piano, Nash handles guitar, melodica, synths, and trumpet, and Sterk contributes synth work and rhythmic backing. The music is all improvised and captured in single takes. It's mellow, enjoyable, and more atmospheric than typical mood music. Playing Clouds will envelop you, taking you from the seaside to the night sky, making you feel weightless and carefree.
