Ann Peebles: Straight From The Heart Vinyl LP

Ann Peebles' third album, Straight From The Heart, is a powerful blend of funk and soul. Produced by Willie Mitchell, this LP packs a lot of emotion despite its short running time. It's a great example of Memphis soul and shows when Hi Records started to overtake its rival, Stax. Peebles, Hi's top female artist, filled the pre - disco 70s with soulful love songs. The songs are intense and daring, like 'I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home Tonight', 'Trouble, Heartaches & Sadness' (sampled in GZA's 'Shadowboxing'), and 'I Pity The Fool'.
