Description

Ann Peebles' third album, Straight From The Heart, is a powerful blend of funk and soul. Produced by Willie Mitchell, this LP packs a lot of emotion despite its short running time. It's a great example of Memphis soul and shows when Hi Records started to overtake its rival, Stax. Peebles, Hi's top female artist, filled the pre - disco 70s with soulful love songs. The songs are intense and daring, like 'I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home Tonight', 'Trouble, Heartaches & Sadness' (sampled in GZA's 'Shadowboxing'), and 'I Pity The Fool'. It's been out of print for a long time, and original copies are quite valuable. Music labels: Hi Records 1971 / Fat Possum Records 2015. Reviewed by Hank Ohs 07/2015.

To enjoy this vinyl LP, simply place it on your turntable and gently drop the needle at the start of the record. Make sure your turntable is set up correctly and the tonearm is balanced. When handling the vinyl, always hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. After each use, clean the record with a soft, anti - static brush to keep it in good condition. Store the LP in a cool, dry place and in its sleeve to protect it from dust and damage. Don't stack heavy objects on top of the record, as this can warp it. If you notice any issues like skipping or excessive noise, it might be time to have the record professionally cleaned or checked for damage.
