This 23 - year - old Montreal - born Brooklyn singer - songwriter has evolved from the fun of his debut '2' to a more introspective phase. After months on the road, he recorded 'Salad Days' alone in his Bed - Stuy apartment. His audience nearly tripled thanks to his first two releases and live shows. In this album, DeMarco reflects on his success and inner conflicts, showing weariness of the trade - offs. Even though it was recorded in Brooklyn in October, 'Salad Days' gives you the feeling of watching a California sunset. Jangly guitars blend with ride cymbals, and thick bass lines match DeMarco's straightforward delivery. It's a perfect combination for his engaging wordplay.
