Description

Alagbon Close is named after the Nigerian Criminal Investigation Department's Lagos headquarters. After a failed raid on Fela Kuti's home, he was detained there. The title track criticizes the Nigerian police's violence, arrogance, and immunity from prosecution. This album was also the first of Fela's to feature sleeve art by Ghariokwu Lemi, whose work is key to Afrobeat's message. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, this limited - edition album comes on 'jollof' orange vinyl in a single - pocket, wide - spine jacket with a gold foil OBI strip. It includes an obi strip and a printed liner note insert. Originally released in 1974, it's now reissued by Knitting Factory Records in 2024.

This vinyl LP is a great addition to your music collection. To play it, just place it on a record player and use the tonearm to gently drop the needle onto the groove. When handling the vinyl, always hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. After each use, put it back in its sleeve to protect it from dust. Store the LP in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat to prevent warping. Enjoy this 50th - anniversary edition of Fela Kuti's Alagbon Close and immerse yourself in the unique Afrobeat sound.
