Description

Among all the jazz - funk Blue Notes from that era, this LP stands out as one of the most sought - after. The sky - blue cover is eye - catching, featuring Lonnie Smith (not to be mixed up with Lonnie Liston Smith) and a scarf - wearing woman hanging out of his caddie's skyroof. The typeface is creatively designed. There's also a well - known 'Tribe' sample on Lonnie's 'Spinning Wheel'. I even spent $40 on it at the Union Square record show in my college days. The rest of the album is full of a fiery energy that many albums from the same time lack. Check out tracks like 'Twenty Five Miles', 'Psychedelic Pi', and 'Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolf'. There are 5 tracks in total. It's a 180g black vinyl pressing, remastered in all - analog from the original tapes. The album features Lonnie Smith on the organ, Dave Hubbard on tenor sax, Ronnie Cuber on baritone sax, Larry McGee on guitar, and Joe Dukes on drums. It was originally released in 1970 and re - issued by Blue Note Records in 2024. Reviewed by the mngmt in 04/2008.

Using this vinyl LP is simple. Just place it on your turntable and let the needle gently drop on the record. Enjoy the rich, warm sound of the analog music. When handling the LP, always hold it by the edges to avoid getting fingerprints on the playing surface. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. After each use, make sure to clean the record with a proper vinyl brush to remove dust and debris. If you store it for a long time, use a good - quality record sleeve to protect it. This way, you can keep enjoying the amazing jazz - funk music of Lonnie Smith for years to come.
