A few months ago, Hessle Audio's regular, Pangaea, quietly dropped a spectacular edit of Loleatta Holloway's 'Stand Up' (a 1994 house - style reworking of her 1976 disco classic 'Dreamin') along with a remix of Nomad's 'Devotion'. It sold out immediately. Pangaea keeps it delightfully simple, taking Holloway's monologue from 'Dreamin''s bridge and layering it over a bed of chaotic jungle breaks and distorted 808s. There's little melody or bassline to distract from Holloway's mesmerizing vocals. Fans of Pangaea's excellent In Drum Play LP will love this.
