Description

Record enthusiasts will notice that Dean Blunt took the prayer hands from Otis G. Johnson's 'God Is Love' for 'The Redeemer' cover, two years before Champagne Papi did. This solo work is similar to Johnson's low - budget gospel epic in lyrics and sound. Compared to his main project Hype Williams' woozy noise - dub atmosphere, 'The Redeemer' is sincere and high - fidelity. It marks a shift from Hype Williams to his current solo projects, like the jazz - funk and neo - soul album 'Blue Iverson' on vinyl. It's a vulnerable breakup record with Blunt's short, husky confessions over Roland Fantom strings, broken glass sounds, canned rock drums, and overdriven Puff Daddy samples. Amid voicemail interludes from an ex, Blunt combines rustic UK folk, freeform post - punk, choral new age, and drunk - dial confessions over obvious samples like Kate Bush and Pink Floyd. The highlight is 'Demon', a duet with Joanne Robertson. Other great tracks are 'Papi', 'Walls Of Jericho', and the title track with Inga Copeland and Arca. The record has a dreamy feel that keeps you guessing. It was released on the now - defunct Hippos In Tanks label. Grab it before it's out of print. It comes in a black vinyl pressing with an embossed jacket from the 2013 Hippos In Tanks label.

To enjoy this vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the black vinyl on the turntable and use the tonearm to lower the needle onto the record. Sit back and relax as you listen to the amazing music. When handling the vinyl, always hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. After use, carefully put the vinyl back in its embossed jacket to protect it. Store the LP in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat to prevent warping. And remember, this is a limited - edition release from a defunct label, so take good care of it to keep it in great shape for years to come.
