Sometimes a movie can be so mind - boggling that you leave the theater scratching your head. Paul Thomas Anderson's adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's Inherent Vice is one such film. You're constantly in a state of confusion, just like the main character. A key factor contributing to this bewildering atmosphere is the soundtrack. Most of it was composed by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, who has a successful track record with Paul Thomas Anderson, having previously collaborated on There Will Be Blood and The Master. Greenwood's nine compositions are his most conventional works yet, smoothly transitioning between John Williams and Morricone - style pieces. These compositions bring a rich and luxurious feel to the film, which is balanced by other soundtrack selections like Can's 'Vitamin C', Minnie Riperton's 'Les Fleurs', and Les Baxter's 'Simba'.
