If you're new to wistful indie - folk, it's high time to discover Joanna Newsom and her 2004 debut album. Over 10 years have passed since its initial release, yet The Milk - Eyed Mender remains one of her best works. From the start, 'Bridges & Balloons' draws you into a world filled with harp sounds, like a magical place of a squeaky - voiced wood nymph. Her singing might take a bit of getting used to, similar to Bjork in Appalachia. Don't try to change the minimal arrangements; just enjoy the beauty as it is. Once you listen to tracks like 'The Book of Right - On', 'Sadie', 'Sprout & The Bean' and 'Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie', you'll be hooked. This album has 12 tracks and is highly recommended.
