The fact that Flying Lotus is the great - nephew of Alice Coltrane is mind - blowing. When you listen to 'You're Dead!' all the way through, you can instantly feel the cosmic musical heritage. This is a true jazz album, and it's exciting to see how it'll fit into today's music scene. Are we ready for Jazz 3.0? As Snack says, there's a lot of musical fusion here. Flylo is great at catering to listeners, with short, potent tracks (the average is under 2 minutes), just like old thrash albums. The track with Kendrick Lamar, at 3:55, is the longest. I can't wait to enjoy this on my home audio and during travel with headphones. This release comes as a black double - vinyl pressing with artwork by Japanese artist Shintaro Kago, in a gatefold sleeve. It also includes a digital download. The music is from Warp Records in 2014.
