Blur's fourth album, The Great Escape, drew inspiration from the loneliness and isolation of the suburbs. Even though the theme was dark, the band kept exploring new sounds. It's full of catchy tunes with sharp production. Damon Albarn's lyrics vividly depict a dystopian world. Despite a hint of sadness, it's a surprisingly enjoyable record. The band's use of synthesizers, horns, and strings shows their innovation, and Graham Coxon's guitar skills keep evolving. This album shows Blur's knack for looking back while moving forward. It comes as a 180 - gram pressing and includes a free download. The music label is Food (1995 / 2012). Reviewed by Hank Ohs in 02/2015.
