1999 is Joey Bada$$'s debut mixtape. First released in 2012 as a free digital download, it received high praise and was even compared to Nas's classic Illmatic. With beats from Pro Era members, J Dilla, MF Doom and more, Joey showcases his love for vintage hip - hop. Despite being just 17, his deep study of hip - hop forefathers is evident. Tracks like 'Waves', 'Survival Tactics', 'Hard Knock', and 'FromdaTombs' feature soulful New York boom - bap backing. Guest appearances include Chuck Strangers, CJ Fly, and Capital Steez (rip). This is the first time 1999 is available on black double vinyl. Original release year: 2012. Music label: Pro Era Records 2018.
