Description

Recorded in February 1970 over three nights when the Allman Brothers Band first opened for the Grateful Dead, these shows were captured by Owsley Stanley, the Dead's legendary soundman. His 'Sonic Journal' recordings are famous for their purity and ability to make you feel like you're at the venue. This is a must - listen for Allman Brothers Band fans. It shows an early version of the band with Duane Allman at his best and features the earliest known live recording of 'In Memory of Elizabeth Reed', written by Dickey Betts right before these shows. The tapes were made a year before the band's iconic At Fillmore East album from the same place. Long out of print, this set has been freshly restored and mastered from original tapes in Owsley Stanley's archives. It comes with all - new album art, liner notes, rare band photos from February 1970 at the Fillmore East, original cover art ('Electric Mushroom'), and new notes from the Allman Brothers Band and the Owsley Stanley Foundation. It's the second release in the award - winning 'Bear's Sonic Journals' series and the first joint presentation by the band and the foundation. The set is a black double vinyl pressing with a gatefold sleeve and is from the Allman Brothers Band music label 2019.

Using this vinyl set is easy. Just place the record on your turntable, gently drop the needle, and enjoy the amazing music. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid getting dirt or fingerprints on the record, which can affect the sound quality. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place, standing upright in its sleeve to prevent warping. The gatefold sleeve is not only for looks but also helps protect the vinyl, so keep it in good condition. If you notice any dust on the record, use a proper record brush to clean it before playing. With these simple steps, you can keep this great vinyl set in top shape and enjoy the music for years to come.
