Description

I forgave Kool for 'Cherish' and 'Celebration' about a year ago. The 80s vibes are strong in this album. Their first record is a soul/jazz/funk masterpiece that often plays at the Lab and gets replayed. 'Kool and the Gang' is a teaser. 'Breeze and Soul' offers gentle melodies with heavy drums, perfect for beat lovers. 'Chocolate Buttermilk' has a similar feel but is more upbeat, like Brunswick-era Young Holt with harder drums. These two tracks are great for summer porch lounging. 'Sea of Tranquility' is a bit of a lullaby, but imperfections add charm. Side 2 starts with the dance - floor hit 'Give It Up', with an infectious bass and open drum breaks sampled by many. 'Kool's Back' and 'The Gang's Back Again' are funk classics with unique conga sounds. 'Raw Hamburger' slows the funk but has a nice hook. This album improves with every listen. It's a feel - good record. This is a limited edition purple vinyl from Real Gone Music in 2022. Highly recommended.

To enjoy this vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Place the record gently on the turntable, put the needle on the start of the groove, and let the music play. When you're done, lift the needle carefully and take the record off the turntable. Store the record in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. Avoid touching the grooves with your fingers as it can leave dirt and oils, which may affect the sound quality. Also, be gentle when handling the record to avoid scratches. If you notice any dust on the record, use a soft, anti - static brush to clean it before playing.
