This is the original score for Panos Cosmatos' amazing occult thriller Mandy. It was Johann Johannsson's last work before his sad passing this year. The score takes inspiration from doom metal, drone, ambient music, and John Carpenter's horror synthscapes. It perfectly captures the film's wide - ranging emotions, from tender moments in tracks like 'Sand' and 'Dive Bomb Blues' to revenge in 'Memories' and 'Seeker of the Serpent's Eye', doom in 'Black Skulls', and sheer terror in 'Temple'. After Johannsson's passing, sound designers Pepijn Caudron and Yair Elazar Glotman assembled the final product. Johannsson also got Stephen O'Malley of Sunn O))) for some really scary guitar work, adding a new level to his compositions. It's very different from his Oscar - winning score for 'Theory Of Everything' or the unsettling drone in 'Arrival' and 'Sicario', but it's just as stunning. This limited - edition vinyl comes in a translucent magenta color, housed in a deluxe gatefold jacket with a UV spot gloss finish. It includes a printed insert and a horizontal obi strip with the album tracklist. Released originally in 2018 and under the Invada label in 2022, it's highly recommended.
