A lot of the music on this collection sounds similar to American boogie and jazz - funk, but the use of West Indian patois and Estuary English in 'Jazzin' And Crusin' by Cache quickly tells you it's British. The slightly broken rhythm with early kicks every couple of bars, a signature of British jazz - funk, anticipates Bugz In The Attic by over 20 years. This collection features a wide range of sounds that dominated London discos from the late 70s to the early 80s, including Prelude - style machine funk, Mizell - grade jazz - funk, and straight - up anthems.
