Hubert Laws: Family Vinyl 12

Faces, places, near and far. Hubert Laws' Family LP is quite common, but this promo-only 12-inch version of the title track is a true jazz-funk gem. Over the years, it has won the love of Gilles Peterson, Spinna, Josey Rebelle and others. It often sells for around $200, so an official repress is highly anticipated. After a beautiful opening, Hubert's perfect flute and rich strings give way to his sister Debra Laws' pure, angelic vocals and a huge rubberband bassline that dominates for the next seven minutes, with occasional brass sections and rhodes licks. Listening now, I realize this might be the cleanest mixdown I've ever heard. They just don't make records like this anymore. The official repress is cut nice and loud at 45RPM, and includes a mono version on the flip. Music label: Columbia 2018. Recommended.

To use this vinyl, just place it on your turntable at 45RPM. Then gently lower the needle onto the record to start enjoying the music. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid getting dirt or fingerprints on it. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. After each use, carefully put it back in its sleeve to protect it. This record comes with both stereo and mono versions, so you can switch between them according to your preference and enjoy different listening experiences.
