If Fat Albert Rotunda seems like the most enjoyable work Herbie Hancock did in his early days as a band - leader, it's true. He crafted the music for the pilot of the kids' TV show Fat Albert. Shifting from the post - bop jazz he refined during five years with the Miles Davis Quintet, he embraced R&B and funk. The outcome is a lively, cheerful album where Hancock clearly had a ball. His Sextet, sharp and relaxed after rehearsals and tours by late 1969, shines. With three horn players - Joe Henderson on sax and flute, Garnett Brown on trombone, and Johnny Coles on trumpet and flugelhorn - along with Hancock's amazing Fender Rhodes electric piano, the group can swing on 'Fat Mama' and emote on 'Tell Me A Bedtime Story'. Their talent won over Warner Bros., who signed Hancock after hearing these catchy tunes. Fat Albert Rotunda climbed the Billboard Jazz Charts. Hancock later experimented with the Sextet's sound, making two more albums for Warner Bros. Even 50 years later, this album is an absolute blast. Features include a black vinyl pressing, a printed insert, and it's from the Antarctica Starts Here music label in 2019.

Using your Herbie Hancock's Fat Albert Rotunda Vinyl LP is easy. First, make sure your turntable is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the vinyl on the turntable and use the tonearm to lower the needle onto the record at the start of the groove. Sit back and enjoy the wonderful jazz - funk music. When handling the vinyl, always hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches on the playing surface. After each use, put the record back in its sleeve to protect it from dust. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place, standing upright in a record rack to prevent warping. If the record gets dirty, you can use a record cleaning brush to gently remove dust.
