A true story: I once asked Eli Escobar about his 'real' last name. Just like the man, it's incredibly cool. When Eli asked us to press his latest album 'Last Summer', we were thrilled. Our previous collaboration was 'Escobar Edits' in 2010. Listening to 'Last Summer' makes me think of old NYC dance record stores like Vinylmania and 8 Ball Records. DJs there would play a random mix of records, from deep house to hard techno and Kenny Dope hip - hop breaks. 'Last Summer' is like hand - picking 11 of the best tracks from such a random collection of promos. This is the kind of record that all veteran DJs would grab if the store was open. RIP BLU JEMZ.
