It's not every day that searching Discogs for rare records leads to a compilation deal on BBE. But that's what happened to DJ Format. He found a record that most thought was 'too heavy' and contacted the seller, who turned out to be BBE's in - house designer, Jake Holloway. DJ Format said the idea for this compilation came from his search for a rare psych/funk 7″, which isn't even in this collection. His friend played it to him, and he was blown away. After months of searching, he found a copy on Discogs at a high price. Since he knew Jake through mutual friends, they met and talked. Jake had offered the 7″ to other DJs, but they passed as it was 'too heavy'. This led to a conversation about DJ Format's love for funky psych records and the frustration of records being 'too heavy' for gigs. Jake suggested a compilation of funky, fuzzed - out psych tracks for BBE, and Psych Out was born. This compilation is full of rare, funky gems from around the world. Most of the tracks are hard - to - find, even some artists' Discogs pages were created just for this comp. These records are so rare that they can empty a vinyl collector's wallet.
