Roomsound is Califone's first full - length album for Perishable Records, originally released in 2001. This Chicago band, born from the remnants of Red Red Meat, combines blues, folk, country, and rock, with a touch of electronica. Tim Rutili is the main writer. Tracks like “Bottles and Bones (Shades and Sympathy)” with its addictive banjo hook, “Trout Silk” with suspenseful slide - guitar, “Porno Starlet Vs. Rodeo Clown” featuring ethereal soundscapes, and “Tayzee Nub” are real highlights on this 15 - song record. It offers a unique blend described as 'timeless hymnals and thick industrial folk'. The vinyl has an etched D - side, printed inner sleeves, and comes with a digital download. It's from the music label Dead Oceans (2001 / 2016). Reviewed by donut savage in 10/2016.
