7L and RaZor crafted these edits using the 'cut & paste / tape edit' style of 80s legends like the Latin Rascals and Steinski. While they probably didn't cut actual tape, the inspiration and style are spot - on. 7L has smoothly shifted from an indie hip - hop sidekick to a top Boston club DJ. Even if you've never heard of RaZor, his edits here are amazing. Check out his takes on Madonna's 'Physical Attraction' and Eddy Grant's 'Electric Avenue' ('Out In The Streets'). The tracks are super lively in headphones, and I bet they'd be even more epic in a club with all the channel - flipping, stuttering, and overdubbing. The a - side offers an original 7L & RaZor party break in three smart versions. The basic 'Work It, Shake It' is great for your own mixes. The 'Back It Up' mix, with Gwen samples, ups the ante and works in many situations. The 'Work It, Shake It Remix' ties it all together. Music label: Five Day Weekend / 2006.
