The shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 classic Psycho is iconic, and its screeching string soundtrack, 'The Murder' by Bernard Herrmann, is unforgettable. Despite Herrmann's initial refusal due to the low budget, Hitchcock insisted he compose the score. The result is one of Herrmann's greatest works for Hitchcock, adding 33% of the film's impact according to Hitchcock himself. Herrmann used the budget constraint to his advantage, writing for a string orchestra instead of a full symphony as Hitchcock wanted, mirroring the film's black - and - white look. The vinyl has Side One: Psycho – Suite for Strings Orchestra Part One (Prelude / The City / Rainstorm) and Side Two: Psycho – Suite for Strings Orchestra Part Two (Murder / Finale). It's a 7' colored vinyl and an RSD exclusive release.
