Anticipated fifth full - length album from Beirut, 'Gallipoli' marks a return to form for Zach Condon. The inspiration struck when Condon revisited his old Farfisa organ, the very one used for his first two albums, 'Gulag Orkester' in 2006 and 'The Flying Club Cup' in 2007. Recorded in the rural Italian region of Puglia with producer Gabe Wax of Soccer Mommy/Speedy Ortiz fame, the isolated setting led to long, intense studio days. 'Gallipoli' is more visceral than Beirut's recent albums, with the energy enhanced by instrument noises and technical quirks, as noted by 4AD.
