Geoff Barrow's Beak> returns with their sophomore full - length album, II (or '>>'). This record dives deep into modern kraut - inspired rock. With a sparse and minimalist sound, Beak> channels the spirit of krautrock legends like Can, Amon Duul, and Neu! all in one go, with few overdubs. It's amazing how they smoothly shift from motorik rhythms to discordant stoner metal and then to droning ambient tracks. You can also sense the same energy as in Barrow's Portishead project, minus the female vocals. This black double - vinyl set includes two exclusive bonus tracks, 'Trong' and 'Failand', making it a 12 - track collection. Remastered for vinyl by Josh Bonati, it comes in a foil - stamped jacket with a download code. The poly - lined inner sleeves add a nice touch.
