Analog Africa is back with a second epic compilation of 70s Angolan music. Angolan music stands apart from Nigerian Afrobeat. A series of unique events shaped the music on this compilation. Facing Portuguese colonization and a growing audience, Angolan musicians adapted. They took up electric guitars and were influenced by music from Cape Verde, Congo, and the Dominican Republic, all while staying true to their own musical heritage and rhythms. The tight - knit musician community spurred healthy competition on stage and in the studio. This compilation captures this short yet creatively intense era. Three Angolan record companies produced around 800 recordings, and it features many rare tracks. The packaging is top - notch. The 44 - page liner notes are sourced in partnership with the National Library of Luanda and the art magazine Note E Dia. Analog Africa's Samy Ben Redjeb collected newspaper clips, rare band photos, and 70s interviews. The pages also include artist and family interviews, label biographies, and a profile of Luis Montès, the heart of Luanda's live music. Music label: Analog Africa 2013. To enjoy this 2LP set, simply place the record on your turntable, gently drop the needle, and let the hypnotic Angolan music from the 70s fill your space. When handling the records, make sure your hands are clean to avoid leaving fingerprints or dirt on the surface. Store the records in a cool, dry place, standing them upright in a record sleeve or storage case. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures as this can warp the records. If the records get dirty, use a record cleaning brush to gently remove dust from the grooves. For a deeper clean, you can use a record cleaning solution following the product's instructions. This compilation is a great way to explore a unique era of Angolan music, so sit back, relax, and let the sounds transport you.
