We've been eagerly awaiting this release from Linkwood (Nick Moore). His last full - length, 'System' in 2009, was a deep - house gem with a strong boogie influence, fittingly released on Trus'me's Prime Numbers. With 'Expressions', this Scottish producer dives even deeper. The title track, first heard on Prosumer's fabric 79 mix, is a drum - forward house track with a catchy looping bass line and smooth analog strings. The album doesn't stick to one style. 'Sonrise' and 'Outside In' start the album with an ambient feel, allowing you to ease in before 'Off Kilter (No Midi Mix)' picks up the pace. Linkwood then alternates between energetic tracks like 'Ignorance Is Bliss (Live Mix)' and 'Object', and experimental ones such as 'Reef Walking' and 'Sigma 3'. The closing track, 'Love Lost', combines the best of ambient and house elements. It's a must - listen album. Music label: Firecracker Recordings 2015. Reviewed by Joey Coco 04/2015.
