Description

In the late 60s, jazz took a soulful turn, influenced by funk from James Brown to Sly & The Family Stone. Jazz, not typically a funky genre, adapted to the times. This was a great era, and funk, soul, and rock fans discovered open - minded jazz artists like Les McCann. His tunes appealed even to those not into bebop. This album, a long - time favorite of hip - hop producers and DJs, starts with the amazing 'Sometimes I Cry,' led by McCann's analog synthesizers and a top - notch rhythm section. It's hard to pick highlights, but fans love 'The Harlem Buck Strut Dance,' 'Let's Play (Til Mom Calls)' and 'It Never Stopped In My Home - town.' These keyboard - filled grooves fit well with records by Stevie Wonder, Funkadelic, Marvin Gaye's 70s soul, and Miles Davis' space funk. This is a limited edition on red smoke colored vinyl, originally released in 1972 and re - issued by Get On Down in 2025.

To enjoy this vinyl LP, first, make sure your turntable is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the vinyl on the turntable and use the tonearm to drop the needle onto the start of the record. Adjust the volume to your preference and relax as the music plays. When you're done, lift the tonearm carefully and return it to its rest. Always store the vinyl in its sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Avoid touching the playing surface of the vinyl with your fingers as this can leave oils and dirt that may affect the sound quality.
