Lee Morgan's masterpiece, The Sidewinder, was recorded in 1963 and released in 1964. It was both a comeback and a crowning achievement. The talented trumpeter first appeared on Blue Note in 1956 at 18, but personal issues in the early 60s made him take a break. His comeback album, The Sidewinder, is a confident and energetic collection of 5 unforgettable Morgan originals. It features tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, pianist Barry Harris, bassist Bob Cranshaw, and drummer Billy Higgins. The title track made this album a huge commercial success. This Blue Note 85 Edition is all - analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g blue colored vinyl at Optimal. It's an indie exclusive limited edition of 3000. Original release was in 1964, and the music label is Blue Note Records 2024.
