Description

“I've lost count of how many times I've been asked what to call my music. Or how many jokes I've come up with instead of a serious answer: ‘I call it collect,' I'd say.” 'Spirits' was Gil Scott - Heron's sole album in the 1990s and his first new one in over a decade, followed 16 years later by the contemporary classic 'I'm New Here'. If you're into the modern production of that album, you'll love this one. Gil presents a few new originals, mostly with sobering monologues over well - tuned trip hop and downtempo beats, bridging his classic work with modern sounds. The 20 + minute live version of 'Home Is Where The Hatred Is' on side C is a must - hear, with a new arrangement and fresh verses. The title track is an 8 - minute jazz gem, with rubbery synth bass and Gil's smooth vocals. Also, check out tracks like 'Message To The Messengers' and 'Work For Peace'. The 1994 vinyl omitted 'Lady's Song' and 'Work For Peace', but now the full tracklist is on red double vinyl for the 25th anniversary. It comes with a fold - out insert having lyrics and liner notes by Gil himself. This limited - edition album is from TVT 2019.

To use this Gil Scott - Heron vinyl album, simply place it on your record player and drop the needle gently on the starting groove. Make sure your record player is in good working condition. When handling the vinyl, always hold it by the edges to avoid getting fingerprints on the playing surface. After each use, put the vinyl back in its sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Store the album in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. If you notice any dust on the vinyl, use a record brush to gently clean it before playing. Enjoy the amazing music this anniversary edition has to offer!
