I know next to nothing about independent hip - hop and used to mock what little I knew. But Dr. Octagon is a mind - blowing collaboration in indie hip - hop history. This classic LP features Dan the Automator's subdued and fitting production. The instrumentals are just right to take you to a different place without overshadowing Kool Keith at his most unrestrained. Album opener '3000' is deceiving, but after 'I Got To Tell You' and 'Earth People', you'll realize it's something special. Keith's imagery on this album is unparalleled. DJ Qbert shreds it on the turntables, as you can hear in the amazing cuts at the end of 'Blue Flowers'. The album also includes hits like 'Wild And Crazy' and 'Halfsharkalligatorhalfman'. It's a double vinyl pressing from Geffen Records. Reviewed by the Woodman in 08/2018.
